For a soldier, the biggest nightmare is to not have the ability to be a soldier when his / her country needs help. To be a soldier is no easy task, and most of you know that sometimes they’re deployed miles and miles away from their homes. We’ve got to recognize all the sacrifices that our soldiers make to keep us safe. They stay awake so we can sleep in peace.

Layka, the German shepherd is also a military dog, but her service was cut short when she lost her leg. Wit over seven hours of surgery, Layka was shot four times by an enemy soldier and thus she lost her leg. As soon as Layka recovered, her handler knew that she could no longer be a military dog, so instead of giving up on her, her handler adopted Layka so she could live a civilian life!
